Title: The Connection Between Neonatal Strokes and Epilepsy

1
The Connection Between Neonatal Strokes and
Epilepsy
Nobody would ever think of strokes happening to
children. It is shocking but true. All the
damage occurs right in the womb and ends up
changing the parents and the childs life
forever.
And what is so sad about this condition is that
it ends up causing a severe disorder called
epilepsy. As per studies and research, almost 30
percent of children develop epilepsy due to
neonatal stroke.
2
Reasons causing neonatal strokes
Neonatal strokes can occur in the womb of a woman
as an arterial ischemic stroke, usually when a
blood clot or any other structural abnormality
hampers the blood flow in the babys brain or
the spinal cord.
What happens due to neonatal strokes?
The neonatal stroke occurs in the mothers womb,
and with that, scar tissues end up forming in
the brain. Often this condition ends up causing a
short circuit in the nerves, which leads to
seizures in them and a significant portion of
them gets epilepsy.
Epilepsy leads to memory loss and makes the kids
confused. Moreover, it becomes challenging to
remember sentences and even important words
sometimes. It makes the child frustrated because
often, the child is unable to process the
essential things in life. Therefore memory loss
treatment is critical.
Epilepsy leads to children lacking in various
aspects of life, and their growth process is
also slow. Not only that, the seizures can be
terrible as well. It makes it difficult to sleep
and even survive day-to-day life.
What can you do?
For some rare cases, epilepsy surgery is
recommended, a surgery that disconnects the
different sides of the brain. The procedure is
called hemispherectomy. The surgery is highly
complicated and is used in the rarest of cases
only. There is no definite cure or solution for
this condition, but the constant love and
attention from loved ones can truly help in this
process.
3
Conclusion
The entire process works in reverse, wherein
those who have epilepsy are also at high risk
for strokes and cardiovascular diseases. This
condition can end up causing seizures, which is
caused as a result of the disruption in the
electrical activity.
No matter what the reason is, the occurrence and
existence of such a condition will always end up
tampering with your lifestyle. Although it isnt
something that can be predicted, one can work
around dementia care and take better care of them
during pregnancy and general life. For precise
medicine care, you can visit Complete
Neurological Care 225 Broadway 705, New York,
NY 10007, United States.
