• A birth plan typically has the following
  sections
• Labor
• Here are a few examples of what you may want to
  put under birth and delivery
• Will medical students be allowed in your room?
• Will you be okay with them using oxytocin to
  induce or augment labor contractions?
• Will you have any special requests about the
  lighting, the noise level, etc?
• Where do you want to be? Will you want a labor
  bed, birthing tub, etc? (This will depend on
  where you are giving birth and what is available
  to you.)
• Will you want pain relief and how do you want it
  handled? Would you want an epidural or
  alternatives to pain medicine?
• If medically necessary, how do you feel about
  interventions like vacuum extraction or forceps
  to assist in the birth of your baby?
• What kind of birth are you planning? Natural,
  c-section, etc?
• Who will be allowed to be with you in your room?
  Your partner, your mom, your best friend, a labor
  coach, a doula?
• Will you allow the use of an IV or catheter?
• Will you allow external and internal electronic
  fetal monitoring?
• Would you want the ability to be mobile during
  your labor?
• Would you want the ability to shower or bathe
  during labor?
• Would you want to try different birthing
  positions?
