Brief Introduction

• Corn germ is a valuable derivative of corn used
  to derive corn oil. The corn is processed using
  latest milling techniques to obtain corn germ.
• The dried germ contains about 50 oil, in which
  the oil constitutes about 85 of the total amount
  of oil present in the corn. The oil is produced
  by first expelling the germ and then extracting
  the expeller cake with Solvent Extraction. Global
  annual corn production is 700 million tonnes but
  corn oil production is only 400 000 tonnes.

Seed Cleaner

• The first step in preparing corn germ for
  extraction is to clean them. Cleaning is done by
  seed cleaner machine which removes foreign
  materials - stones, sand, dirt and spoilt seeds.
  Different screening technique is often used to
  remove all material that is over or undersized.

Cooking Kettle / Conditioner

• Heating leads to increased oil yield. Moreover if
  oilseed cake is to be used for feed or feed
  heating is useful as it increases protein
  availability.

Oil Expeller Machines

• This machine is used to extract oil from corn
  germs by mechanical pressure forces. After oil is
  extracted from the corn germ, it passes through
  the barrel bars and is collected in a trough
  under the screw, and the cake exit through the

Oil Filter Press

• After extraction , crude gern oil contains solid
  suspended particles which needs to be separate
