separation plant, you can opt for two ways to
generate nitrogen on your own switching to the
PSA generators or membrane generators. How do
membrane nitrogen generator systems
work? MembraneN2 generating system works via a
basic working principle. The membrane module with
a - 10 cm diameter module forms the major part
of the membrane nitrogen generators. Besides,
this membrane module is filled with hollow and
small polymer fibers. Firstly, clean and dry
compressed air can be seen to enter it. Due to
the fiber part's structure, the air can flow
towards the fiber's exterior. This process is
known as permeation. During this procedure,
oxygen, a few portions of argon, and water can
exit via the fiber's membrane sides. Ultimately,
only nitrogen can reside inside. It is possible
due to the permeation of molecules at different
speeds.

While oxygen will take a bit longer to permeate,
water can permeate quickly. Nitrogen and argon
can remain inside the fibers even after releasing
oxygen and H2O as they permeate relatively

Due to the permeation via the fiber's wall,
extreme pressure or overpressure can arise within
the membrane's housing structure. As a result,
while the permeation capacities will
significantly decrease, the fibers can clog. To
prevent this defect, a permeate vent or opening
in the house is present. It is the place from
where exhaust gases such as argon and oxygen can
escape. Which one should I choose, a membrane
nitrogen generator system or a PSA nitrogen
generator system? The air factor is relatively
low in PSA generators, resulting in low
operational costs. So, you are more likely to
think that selecting the best one amongst the two
is an easy task. However, the membrane generators
come with a few notable advantages.

principle is seen as simple and easy. It can
lower your maintenance charges, leaving little to
no footprint on the installation process. They
have the edge over the PSA generators to start up
quickly while being very quiet. So, you don't
have to cope with the PSA generators' blow-off
sides after the end of a cycle. The last benefit
implies the suitability of membrane generators
within places where there are numerous employees.
