Title: Epoxy Floor Vs Polyurethane Floor

1
Epoxy Floors VS. Polyurethane floors
2
Epoxy Floors are usually harder than Polyurethanes
  • They have High Compressive and Impact Strength
  • It is best suited for heavy duty facilities

3
Epoxies are mostly preferred in
  • Warehouses
  • Heavy Industry
  • Logistics Centres
  • Facilities with Heavy Traffic

4
Polyurethane floorings are generally softer and
elastic than epoxy floorings
  • That is why they are more resistant to scratches.
  • Also, they provide better resistance to very low
    freezing temperature.

5
Polyurethane floors are preferred
  • In spaces with foot traffic
  • In multi desk car-parks since the elastic layer
    can act as waterproofing layer.
  • In freezing chambers where temperatures can reach
    -30 C.

6
Chemical Resistance
  • Polyurethane acts better with lactic acid, thats
why it is preferred in dairy production.
  • Epoxies are preferred in industries with
    sulphuric acids.

7
Application Differences
  • Polyurethane floors are more sensitive to
moisture. Moisture can damage the polyurethane
    flooring.
  • Epoxy flooring are also sensitive to moisture,
but the damage due to humidity will be only
limited to some discoloration or blushing.
  • In humid environment, epoxy is much better choice
    than polyurethane flooring.

8
  • Polyurethane floors can be easily modified to
extend or limit their pot life, re-coat time as
well as the total curing time. This flexibility
allows to complete PU floors much quicker and to
complete the floor in a much shorter period of
    time.
  • In terms of flexibility, epoxy floors require
7days to fully cure. Because of humidity and
limited pot life, polyurethanes require very well
    trained and experienced staff.
