1
Big Chicken How Antibiotics Destroyed the
Agricultural System
2
According to recent surveys, 14-20 population of
the world is fond of non-vegan foods. Nowadays,
70-80 percent of antibiotics consumed in the
United States are produced for animal use and not
for humans. Livestock is kept on low doses of
antibiotics for their entire lives, rather than
nutrition feed, to promote growth and prevent
disease, rather than fight a one-off
infection.   If you too are one of them, we
recommend you to read Maryn McKenna's new book,
Big Chicken, in which she focused on the
chicken industry and the use of antibiotics in
livestock started with the chicken. Maryn
McKenna as a journalist, writes in her book that
the advancement of animal agriculture has made
chicken meat a more profit-earning business with
the involvement of antibiotics in their feeds as
a growth promoter to get Big Chicken.   Poultry
farmers and antibiotics   Poultry farmers also
add antibiotics as a preventive medicine to
ensure that birds did not get sick.
3
She publishes in her book though farmers are
using antibiotics to protect livestock health and
stop any bacterial transmission in the people
eating them. But, what about the bacteria that is
antibiotic-resistant and prevents themselves from
antibiotics to get killed? They survive and
contaminate in chicken meat resulting or causing
food-borne infection in humans when they reach
humans in the form of cooked non-vegan meat
food.       It would be best if you also read a
column in her book about Food-borne bacteria
like Shigella, Salmonella, E-Colli,
Campylobacter, etc. creates food-borne illness in
humans and is easily spreadable between the
people. Prevention Treatment of E-Coli,
Shigella, etc., and other food-borne bacterial
disease are necessary to prevent the spread of
these bacteria at high rates.
4
The process of Medication on E-Coli, Salmonella,
and other bacteria should be followed to overcome
severe health issues like abdominal cramps,
diarrhea, vomiting, etc., caused by these
antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the human
body.    Final words Our primary purpose in
recommending this book to non-vegan people is to
make them understand the high use of antibiotics.
The involvement of antibiotics is destroying our
traditional agriculture system that was safe and
pure and was not based on earning profit by
adding a high level of antibiotics livestock feed.
