Title: How Does Whey Protein Affect Kidneys

How Does Whey Protein Affect Kidneys
  • Different people require different amounts of
whey protein. It depends on a lot of things like
their exercise routine, their goals (Are they a
    professional body builder?), their food
(quantity, veg or non-veg), their age, their
health condition, etc. If a person takes more
protein than is needed by the body, then the
kidneys have to work extra to eliminate the
protein and other things. It can cause more
stress on the kidneys. This is why it is always
better to take protein supplements in moderation.

Important Points to Keep in Mind
  • Dont rely solely on supplements. Include high
protein foods in your diet, such as milk
products, soy, pulses, vegetables, eggs, meat,
    fish, etc.
  • Buy a known brand product, which is certified for
quality and purity. Buy from authentic sites and
shops and check the seal or hologram on the
    product.
  • Read the ingredients of the product. Check for
the protein per scoop and the serving size. Also
check if the product contains carbs, fats, oils,
etc. in it. Some products contain fillers as
well. It is better to avoid such products.
  • Check with your nutritionist about the amount of
protein you need. Not all people need the same
    amount of protein.

  • Whey proteins are of three types concentrate,
isolate and hydrolysate. If you consume
concentrate, then it will be around 60-70
protein and remaining fats/carbs. If you go with
isolate or hydrolysate, then you will consume
more pure protein. Hydrolysate is easy to digest
and absorb into the body. Other forms of proteins
are pea protein, rice protein, quinoa protein,
plant-based protein, etc. Selecting the right
kind of protein for you and having it in the
right amount (not in excess) is important.
