ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University (PSSOU)
is set in the City of Festivals' Bilaspur.
Established in 2005, Sundarlal Sharma University
is an autonomous public open state university
that provides distance education. Moreover, PSSOU
has recognition from University Grants Commission
(UGC), Distance Education Council (DEC), and the
National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Pt
Sundarlal Sharma University focuses to provide
higher education opportunities to people of all
age groups, regardless of their professions.
However, it is in line with Gandhijis model of
grass-root democracy. In other words, the open
institute encourages the citizens to be active
and responsible citizens of the country.

HISTORY
On the 55th year (2005) of Republic Day, the
state government of Chhattisgarh laid the
foundation stone of PSSOU. As the names suggest,
it was named after the social reformer and
freedom fighter, Pandit Sundarlal Sharma.
Moreover, he is famous for the Canal Satyagraha,
or the Nahar Satyagraha.  As a matter of fact,
Sundarlal Sharma University was inaugurated by
the former Vice Prime Minister Lala Krishna
Advani. In addition to this, he was a member of
the opposition (MOP)  of Lok Sabha

ACHIEVEMENTS
Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University maintains
a good reputation among the open universities of
the state. Further, many renowned personalities
visited the PPSOU campus in the past. To name
some of them, Dr Raman Singh (Former Chief
Minister of Chhattisgarh), Shri Ajay Chandrakar
(Minister of Higher Education), Shri Amar Agrawal
(Minister of Finance), and others.

COURSES OFFERED

• Bachelors Course
• Pt Sundarlal University provides undergraduate
  admission across 10 subjects. Moreover, NCTE
  recognised the Bachelors of Education (B.ed)
  course in 2015..
• Masters Courses
• PSSOU offers many PG courses. But, the popular
  ones are Distance MBA and Distance BSc. Further,
  the open institute offers 15 PG courses to the
  students.
• PhD./M.Phil Courses
• PSSOU, as a matter of fact, PhD programs across
  many subjects, namely, English, Hindi, Education,
  Library Information Science, Political Science,
  Psychology, and Management.
• Diploma Courses
• Pt. Sundarlal Sharma University offers many short
  term diploma courses across multiple subjects.

  Education (D.ed) of two years..

INFRASTRUCTURE
Library Bastar University has a huge collection
of books and journals along with other digital
recourses. The students can access the digital
library with the help of the internet on campus.
Moreover, the books and digital references are
available for all the departments. The students
can access both e-books, e-journals and other
digital archives as well. There are more than
20000 books along with other international
journals as well.

• Hostel
• Bastar University has a separate hostel for boys
  and girls. Moreover, the hostel has basic
  facilities like Wi-fi, a bed, tables, along with
  a TV room. Additionally, both the hostels have a
  good security system for the students.
• Other facilities
• Bastar University has a medical centre, which is
  for minor casualties, however, the students are
  taken to the nearby if the case is rather
  serious. Moreover, the medical centre is open for
  all the students and faculty at any time of the
  day and at night as well.
• Moreover, Bastar University has a smart classroom
  with various updated technologies which provide a
  relatively modern method of learning. The
  university also has a very big canteen facility
  providing healthy and hygienic food.

• Placements
• Bastar University placement record is almost
  100. A majority of the students are given job
  roles during the placement drive. Moreover, there
  are pre-placement talks and training that is held
  every year for the students.
• Moreover, the placement of the students depends
  on the marks scored in their academics along with
  their prior exposure to live projects. There are
  several companies that participate in the
  placement drive every year.
• Fee Structure
• The fee structure in Bastar University varies to
  a large extent. There may be some variations in
  the fees with regard to the course as well as the
  level. For instance, the fee structure for Master
  of Agriculture Science, MA, and MSW is INR 9,860.
• Moreover, the fee per year is INR 60,000 for the
  course of Masters of Business Administration.
  Other than that, for most of the undergraduate
  programs, the fee is around INR 23,000. As for
  Post-Graduate programs, the fee is around INR
  40,000.
• PhD course fee structure also varies to some
  extent, for instance, for PhD in Forestry, the
  fee is INR 83,300.

University? The eligibility criteria for most of
the PG courses at Bastar University is graduation
with a minimum mark of 50. The Bachelors degree
can be on any relevant stream. Q3.What is the
eligibility criteria for Bastar University
admission 2021? Bastar University admissions
criteria are entirely merit-based. For PG
courses, graduation in any discipline with a
minimum mark of 50 is required. However, for
Undergraduate programs, the eligibility criteria
is a minimum of 45 in their 10th and 12th grade.
