2
  • " textile testing lab " refers to a collection of
businesses dedicated to providing their clients
with the latest in textile testing services.
  • " textile testing lab " is also known as "
    textile material testing lab ".
  • This is the lab most often used by textile
    manufacturers for pre-manufacture fabric testing,
shrinkage analysis, quality control and material
    specification.

3
  • Vastest is an independent international textile
testing lab based at the forefront of
standardized and specialized textile and fiber
testing throughout a broad spectrum of
    industries.
  • "AATCC", which stands for Association of Textile
Testing and Certification Authorities, is a
not-for-profit group whose mission is "to set
high standards for quality, dependability and
integrity of the textile testing and
    certification fields".

4
  • They are governed by "the Uniform Standard of
    Professional Practice (USPAP)".
  • "ASTM" is the American Society of Testing
Engineers, a non-profit organization that brings
    together textile testing professionals and
    manufacturers.
  • "ISEA" is the International Society of Textile
    Engineers, which brings together textile
    manufacturers, quality assurance engineers and
    other technical experts.

5
  • "NAICR" is the National Association of
Manufacturers of Textiles and Fibers. All three
    are international textile standards associations.
  • The Textile Testing Lab offers testing services
    from a single perspective.
  • It does not mix several testing methods in order
to give the client an overall view of the
    material and quality.

6
  • The main focus is on identifying the issues that
affect the performance of the product or
material, as well as identifying any flaws that
need to be corrected prior to manufacturing.
  • The lab may conduct both qualitative and
    quantitative tests.
  • The lab may even combine the two procedures.

7
  • Most textile testing labs use four specific
procedures in their scope of work.
  • The first is known as the "DSHS" this stands for
    "Definitional System Identification".
  • This is usually the first step when diagnosing
    any problems.
  • The second procedure is known as the "RES".

8
  • The third procedure is known as the "PSSTS". This
stands for "Preform Performance Testing System".
  • This is used for fabrics with different
densities. It is one of the commonly used testing
    procedures for textiles.
  • The last procedure is known as the "ETL".
  • This stands for "Electrical Testing Laboratory".

9
  • In textile testing, there are two major methods
used dry testing and wet testing.
  • Dry testing involves the inspection of a piece of
textile while it is still at its original place
    on the manufacturing line.
  • This type of testing is used to determine the
    stability of garments.

10
  • On the other hand, wet testing is a laboratory
test procedure that deals with fabric damage
    after garment washing.
  • These tests help determine the quality of clothes
through their durability and resistance to wear.
  • There are also companies who offer services for
both dry and wet textile testing.

11
  • Textile Mask Testing is a process that many lab
    services offer.
  • It helps maintain the quality of items and helps
avoid wrongful labeling or claims about certain
    products.
  • Calibration can be done through the use of
machines or manually by adjusting the qualities
of an item according to the standard established
    in the industry.

12
  • There are also companies who offer this service
but only on certain sizes or materials.
  • Before starting out with a textile testing lab,
one needs to decide what kind of services he or
    she will provide.

13
  • These depend on the budget, one has available.
There are affordable services available as well
as those that may cost a lot.
  • One also needs to take into account the location
    of his or her lab.
  • The lab may be located in one place or be spread
    all over town or state.
