Permanent tissue
  • Taking up a permanent shape, size and function is
    called differentiation
  • These are of two types SIMPLE PERMANENT TISSUE
    AND COMPLEX PERMANENT TISSUE

7
SIMPLE Permanent tissue (Parenchyma)
  • Parenchyma- Loosely packed
  •                     Thin walled cells
  •                     Intercellular spaces
  •                     Contains chloroplast and
    prepares food by photosynthesis
  •                     Large cavities so that plant
    can float on water

8
collenchyma
  • Elongated cells
  • Less intercellular spaces
  • Thicker at the corners
  • Give flexibility so that plants can move
  • Give mechanical support to the plant

9
Sclerenchyma
10
Chlorenchyma and aerenchyma
  • Tissue containing chlorophyll is called
    chlorenchyma
  • Tissues having large cavities and float on water
    are called aerenchyma

11
Complex permanent tissue
  • Xylem phloem are the two types
  • They are both conducting tissues
  • Xylem consists of Tracheids, Xylem parenchyma,
    xylem fibres vessels

12
Xylem
13
Phloem
  • Sieve cells, sieve tubes, companion cells, phloem
    fibres, phloem parenchyma
  • Sieve tubes are tublar cells with perforated
    walls
  • Phloem transports food from leaves to other parts
    of the plant
  • Except phloem fibres, other phloem cells are
    living cells
