THINGS TO DO IN SAN FRANCISCO
Golden Gate Bridge
One of the most iconic sights of San Francisco,
the Golden Gate Bridge is a must-see attraction.
There are many great spots for a great view of
the bridge, but one of the absolute favorites is
Baker Beach and Twin Peaks. From Baker Beach,
not only do you get a great vantage point, but
you can grab a meal from a local market, lay
down on the sand, and enjoy a quiet little picnic
basking in the view of this iconic bridge. If
you care to explore on foot, the bridge is also
open to pedestrians and cyclists.
Alcatraz Island Sitting on a small, rocky island
in the middle of San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz
Island is a former federal prison that jailed
some of the countrys biggest criminals. There
is a self-guided audio cell house tour at the
island narrated by ex-inmates and guards telling
you stories of escape attempts and prison riots.
The island can be easily reached by ferry.
Japanese Tea Garden If you are in search of a
peaceful city escape, the Japanese Tea Garden
fits the bill. It is the oldest public Japanese
garden in the United States. Visitors can stroll
through the tranquil gardens, explore the
five-story-tall pagoda, and if hungry, they can
stop for matcha and mochi at the Japanese tea
house.
Fishermans Wharf Put Fishermans Wharf on the
list of your things to do in San Francisco Sea
lions basking in the sun, waterfront seafood
restaurants, attractions, boutique stores, and
bay views, and the exciting Pier 39 makes this an
exciting place to discover. The souvenir shops
in the waterfront marketplace and historic ships
add to the atmosphere. You can also find the
historic F-Line streetcar, two cable car lines,
and sightseeing boats and boat charters link to
Alcatraz, Angel Island, and other significant
points around San Francisco Bay.
Golden Gate Park Millions of visitors flock each
year to Golden Gate Park to experience its miles
of green lawns, beautiful paths, serene lakes,
and 7,000 kinds of plants right in the heart of
San Francisco. The park houses some of the
countrys best museums including, The de Young
Museum, California Academy of Sciences, and
Conservatory of Flowers. The park is also home to
the Japanese Tea Garden and San Francisco
Botanical Garden.
