Title: What Parents Should Know About Auditory Processing Disorder
1What Parents Should Know About Auditory
Processing Disorder
Auditory Processing Disorder, also known as
Central Auditory Processing Disorder, is
basically a hearing problem that affects many
school-aged children. Children with this
condition experience a hard time hearing the
small sound difference in words, even when the
sounds are loud and clear enough to be heard.
They are not able to understand what is being
spoken to them only because of a lack of
coordination between their ears and brain. For
example, if Childcare teachers say Look at the
cows over there kids having APD may hear like
Look at the clown on the chair. They even find
it difficult to understand where sounds are
coming from. Although this condition has some
negative effects on a childs education and
development, it is not exactly a learning
disability.
