The Merchandise Exported from India Program
(MEIS) is an incentive program for exports that
was created to encourage the trade of products
coming from India. In this scheme, exporters
receive benefits to offset the inefficiencies and
expenses. The incentives vary from 2to 7
percent on the FOB (Free on-Board) amount of the
exports made for the specified or notified items
by the DGFT. The goods that have more
export-oriented characteristics and the capacity
for employment creation in the country as well
as boosting their competitiveness in Indian
products in the global market are emphasized
under the MEIS Scheme.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE MEIS SCHEME?

The eligibility criteria are based on the item
that is sold. According to the latest
circular, exports of products regardless of the
country of export, are eligible for incentives.
The MEIS Scheme is suitable for any country.
Each exporter, regardless of manufacturer or
merchant exporter, that exports goods listed in
Appendix 3BAppendix 3B - MEIS Schedule will be
able to avail incentive benefits as part of the
MEIS Scheme. MEIS Scheme.
The product being exported must be of Indian
origin. Products that have been re- exported
aren't eligible.
