Unexpected and Exciting Hill Stations of
Uttarakhand

  • Unexpected and Exciting Hill Stations of
    Uttarakhand
  •  It's not the journey that's exciting it's the
experience along the way. It's not what you
expect it's what you don't expect. This quote
from Ruskin Bond is what a trip to Uttarakhand
would mean for any visitor since it is the
unexpected that makes any trip to Uttarakhand
worthwhile. Escape from the northern plains of
India is just a few kilometres away and explore
the hill stations of Uttarakhand. We at Fabvenues
list here some of the gems where you can feel the
cool breeze on your face and calm inside your
    soul.
  •  Nainital
  •  According to the legend, Nainital is one of the
64 Shakti Peeths' where Sati's left eye (Nain)
fell here, giving origin to the patron goddess of
the town of Nainital. The Naina Devi shrine is
    near the lake's northern end.
  • Encircled by seven hills known as "Sapta-Shring,"
with Lake Naini in the centre, Nainital is the
hill station of Uttarakhand which first appeared
in an edition of the Englishman Calcutta'
in1841. By 1847, it had established itself as a
resort. The favourable climate led to the opening
of many boarding schools like the famous Sherwood
    College.
  • Today, Nainital is one of the famous hill
stations of Uttarakhand and has everything you
need for a vacation. The bustling Mall Road with
a variety of cafes and restaurants is quite
popular among tourists. Other visitors are
enchanted by the  wooded walks with breathtaking
views of the surrounding countryside.  You can
explore nearby areas like Bhimtal, Sattal,
    Ranikhet and other places too.
  • The Earls court is an opulent hotel within
    walking distance from Naini lake.
  •  Mussoorie
  •   Also known as Queen of the Hills, it is among
the famous hill stations of Uttarakhand. A
Britisher, Captain Frederick Young had climbed up
the hill from the Doon valley in 1827 and found
the place offering great views and a salubrious
    climate.

3
  • The weather also prompted Sir Henry Bohle to
start his Brewery here. Visitors can view the
tomb of this pioneer in the Camelback cemetery.
  •  Another colonial legacy is  the homemade
chocolates that the visitors can pick  up while
shopping. Many famous personalities continue to
reside here like Victor Bannerjee, Bill Aitken.
Every Saturday afternoon, famed novelist Ruskin
Bond visits the Cambridge Book Shop in Kulri
Bazaar to autograph books and meet his followers.
  •  A sign halfway down the Mall reads "route to Gun
Hill Cable car," which will take you to an
observation point. On a clear day, one can gaze
at the spectacular vistas of many white-tipped
Himalayan peaks.  Kempty Falls, developed by the
British as a picnic spot in the 1830s has since
become a popular Mussoorie attraction. Sit by the
side of the flowing fall and have piping
hot Maggi or momos after splashing in the pool
formed at the bottom of the fall. Lal Tibba
offers views of peaks such as Bandarpunch,
Kedarnath, and Badrinath on a clear day.
  • AHR Radha Residency is a beautiful property in
    Mussoorie for vacation.
  •  Ramnagar
  •  Ramnagar was once known as Ahichhatra, the
capital of Mahabharata's Northern Panchala and is
the entry point to India's oldest national park,
Jim Corbett National Park, a wildlife tourism
attraction. Nearby are the Garjiya Devi Temple
and (Goddess Sita) Maa Sita Bani Temple. A big
fair is held here on Kartik Poornima. Corbett
falls is a place to trek to and have picnics and
is 27 km from Ramnagar. Also, visit the Corbett
Museum at Kaladhungi for a peep into the life of
    the famous hunter.
  • Dhikala is the most well-known of the popular
tourist locations in Jim Corbett National Park,
and it is on the outskirts of the large Patli Dun
    valley, where the Ramganga flows.
  • Buy souvenirs like coasters, hunter jackets from
the Shop at Corbett National park gates. You can
also shop for local fruit preserves, honey and
    woollens to take back home.
  • The Gajraj Trails resort in village Dela is just
15 minutes from the Bijrani zone of Corbett Park.

  • Munsiyari
  •  Situated on the banks of the Goriganga Rivers,
this hill station has an elevation of around
2,200 m. The word 'Munsiyari' means 'place with
snow' in local slang. According to legends, the
Pandavas started from Munsiyari on their final
trek to heaven. Now it is the starting point for
hikes to the Millam, Ralam, and Namik Glaciers.
  •  Many rare, globally threatened, and endangered
bird species, such as the whistling thrush,
wagtail, and hawk cuckoo, falcon, and serpent
eagle, as well as animals such as leopard,
mountain bear, and musk deer, live in the Gori
river basin. Recently a 1.5-acre lichen park has
    been established here.
  •  Trek to the Kalamuni Pass which is bordered by
oak and birch trees offers a breathtaking view of
the Panchachuli Peaks. Visit the Khaliya Top,
located 7 kilometres from Munsiyari for Skiing
and adventure sports. A more strenuous trail
leads from Matkot (12 km) to the Panchuali
    group's glaciers.
  •  Chamba
  •  Having  a long and illustrious history, the
Chamba district is  at the confluence of the
Dhauladhar and Zanskar mountain ranges. Lakes,
streams, meadows, alpine tree covers, valleys,
and abundant fauna characterise the landscape.
The Chamba town is situated on the banks of the
Ravi River and  is surrounded by mountains and
    lush forests.
  •  Miniature paintings, temple architecture, and
the famous "Chamba Rumal" all highlight the
city's rich legacy. The Chaugan, which was
converted into a public promenade and cricket
ground in the late 19th century, is the heart and
core of all activity in Chamba. The Chaugan hosts
an annual Minjar Mela, during which the majority
of the area s transformed  into a bazaar.
  • Visit the historic temples of Chamba, which offer
    a spiritual experience.

  • The Chamunda Devi Temple, which dates back over
300 years, is made of wood and stone. The Laxmi
Narayan Shrine Complex, which consists of six
    temples, is another well-known temple.

of the best miniature Pahari paintings.
  •  Kausani
  •  Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant said in Shilpa aur
Darshan, his debut work, that the mighty
Himalayas and green hills filled with Chir and
Devdar have impacted the quality of ultimate
silence and shadows of those orchards in his
    poems.
  • With Someshwar valley on one side and Baijnath
Katyuri and Garur, Kausani has a beautiful
location. This is the reason why it is counted in
the famous hill stations of Uttarakhand. It is
especially significant because it is here that
Mahatma Gandhi composed a commentary on the Gita
and Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant was also born
    here.
  • Only 406 kilometres from Delhi, it is a great
weekend getaway. You may purchase handcrafted
Shawls created in Kausani, as well as Kusani Tea,
jam, pickles, and crafts. The summer season,
which runs from April to June is a good time to
go sightseeing and have fun.The winter season
lasts from October to February, and has a lot of
    snow during this time.
  •  Mukteshwar
  •  Mukteshwar, located 51 kilometres from Nainital,
is named after a 350-year-old Shiva temple known
as Mukteshwar Dham, which is on the campus of the
    veterinary institution. The Chauli-ki-Jali is
popular for rock climbing and rappelling and
provides a spectacular view of the valleys below.

fruit orchards of the Amravati estate, this
property has only five rooms with beautiful views
of the Himalayas and rolling hills.

  •  According to local folklore, Harsil is named
after Lord Vishnu or Hari who transformed into a
shila/stone and absorbed the raging dispute
between the rivers Bhagirathi and Jalandhari over
    their relative significance.
  • Harsil is known for its natural landscape and
apple production. The village is inhabited mainly
    by the Bhotia tribe.

markets, and cultural events are all part of the
