Metal Stitching Repair in India
Metal stitching, also known as cold pinning, has
been used for over a century. It is a well-proven
and well-established technology. It is most
commonly used on cast (grey) iron components such
as engine blocks and casings, but it can also be
used to repair other metals such as aluminium and
bronze.
3
Metal stitching has numerous advantages
  • In most cases, little or no disassembling is
required. In most cases, proper access from one
    side is adequate.
  • Because it is a cold-repair procedure, no
additional stresses are injected into the
material, which could lead to new cracks over
    time.
  • The pieces' original orientations can be
preserved. Due to the application of heat, there
is no deformation or imperfection. It is
    consequently rarely essential to re-machine
    following a repair.
  • Tensile strains are distributed over a broader
    area by the repair seam.
  • The restored region is liquid and gas tight if
    done correctly. QuantiServ successfully applied
water pressure of up to 12 bars (174 psi) to a
test piece that had been repaired using metal
    stitching.
  • Last but not least, our metal stitching repairs
    are considered permanent!

We replace the cracked metal with special metal
stitching pins that we install by drilling and
tapping the crack's sides together. A continuous
row of interlocking stitching pins is created,
resulting in a strong, pressure-tight patch. We
add locks across the joint line of the pins by
drilling a precision hole pattern with specific
drill equipment to restore the casting to its
original strength. The locks are hammered in once
the hole pattern is produced, squeezing the
material even tightly together. Finally, the
stitched region is ground to match the curve of
the base metal, bringing the restoration to a
close. We prefabricate a new piece and lock it
in place in the same manner as stated above if
the component for repair is not only fractured
but also missing a piece. The majority of our
crack repair tools and supplies are being sold so
that our consumers can perform simple,
non-complex repairs on their own.
