INTRODUCTION
  • Sikkim is beautiful in both December and January.
However, you will have more weather issues in

Sikkim is an important destination for a hill

    in India

1. Tsomgo Lake
  • At 12,000 feet above sea level, Tsomgo Lake, also
known as Changu Lake is an icy lake in Sikkim. In
December, the lake freezes, forming a perfect
backdrop for the snow-capped mountain s and
    surrounding white areas.

2. Yumthang Valley
  • At 8,800 feet above sea level, Yumthang is
located in North Sikkim. Also known as the Valley
of Flowers, Yumthang is one of the most beautiful
places in the state. During the winter, the
entire valley is covered in deep white sheets of
snow, which brings the viewer closer.

3. Yuksom
  • Yuksom, the ancient capital of Sikkim, is a
historic city. Although December is a very cold
month, Yuksom is located at an altitude of 5,900
which makes it cold here. When you visit this
city with your family in December, you can not
only enjoy the pleasant cold, but also see
Kanchenjunga Falls, the Sanga Choeling Monastery
    and much more.

4. Tashiding
  • Tashiding, a small Himalayan village on a hill in
western Sikkim, is one of Sikkim's most famous
religious sites. According to a popular legend,
the village is the center of sacred sites in the
    state.

5. Rabdentse
  • Here and there in the former capital, excellent
views of the Kanchendzonga range can be seen. The
Archaeological Survey of India has identified the
    monument as of national importance.

6. Kaluk
  • At an altitude of 1620 feet in the foothills of
the Himalayas in West Sikkim, there is a pleasant
town called Kaluk, which is famous for its
splendor. It is a place of wind in Sikkim and is
famous for places like Durga Mandir, Rinchenpong
    Monastery and Megi Dara.

7. Dzongri Trek
  • Dzongri is about 15,000 feet above sea level.
This trek will allow you to experience some
interesting and impressive peaks in the
Himalayas. The trek is a very memorable
experience, especially in the month of December.

8. Teesta River
  • The Teesta Barrage Dam helps in irrigating the
plains of Upper Padma and Jamuna. The Teesta
water dispute is a contentious issue between
India and Bangladesh. Before the Teesta River
enters Bangladesh, it flows through Lake Tso
Lhamo in the Himalayan, Sikkim, and West Bengal
    states.

9. Yume Samdon Hot Spring
  • The hot spring is located at Yume Samdon, about
24 km from Yumthang Valley, and is close to the
Indo-China border. If you are going to this site
in December, you can expect much more snow than
you can see with your own eyes as it has an
    altitude of 15,200 km.

10. Kecholpheri
  • If you want to find distant destinations, you can
visit Kecholpheri which is not known to many
tourists going to Sikkim. Widely popular among
patch packers and photographers, Kecholpheri is a
great place to see in Sikkim in December.
