6 Useful Winter Dressing Tips for Kids
Weather is changing and if you have kids at home,
you must know the art of dressing your kids in
the months of winter. Kids are more vulnerable to
cold and this is mainly because their small
bodies lose heat rapidly. They are also less
likely to understand that they are getting cold.
Hence, keeping them warm and comfortable during
the winter months falls entirely on the
parents. According to the Preschool teachers,
you need to think smartly when you are dressing
babies or children in winter. Here, they have
shared some winter dressing tips to make sure
they are neither too hot nor too cold but
comfortable.

An extra layer of clothing While dressing your
kids in the winter put one extra layer of
clothing than what the adults would wear in the
same weather condition. This is because the
pockets of air between clothing layers actually
help trap the heat. Layering would also help them
to remove a jacket or seater whenever they feel a
bit hot.  Not too many layers While putting an
extra layer of clothing on your babies is really
smart, please try to avoid layering your kids
with too much outerwear. Excess layering can
cause them to sweat and that would make their
clothes wet. This will allow the cold and wind to
bring their temperature down.

  • Smart layering There are three basic layers that
    every parent should know about.
  • Base layering
  • This layer wicks moisture
  • Wool or some synthetic fabric, like polyester,
would be a good choice for the base layer.
  • Middle layering
  • This layer insulates the heat.
  • Wool would be the best for this layer.
  • The fitting of this layer would be close to the
body without retraining their physical movements.
  • Outer layering
  • This layer would protect your child from rain,
    snow, and wind.
  • A breathable waterproof jacket or shell would be
    a great choice.

Try avoiding cotton Cotton is a good absorbent
so it absorbs snow, rain, water quite quickly.
But you should know that wearing wet cotton for a
longer time in the winter can make your kids fall
sick. So, Cypress CA playschool teachers suggest
parents avoid cotton during winter for their
kids. Fingers, toes, and faces need extra
care The head, face, ears, hands, and feet are
the most susceptible parts of the body to cold
exposure and frostbite. Frostbite is something
that can cause skin damage and numbness.
Moreover, childrens skin is very sensitive to
cold, so you need to your eyes on their
extremities. So, please take out all their heavy,
non-cotton socks, waterproof boots, gloves,
scarfs, hats and make them feel warm and
comfortable in the winter.
