2What is Cold-brew Coffee?
Cold brew coffee is more of a type of extraction
method. The cold brew coffee business has been
growing by 25 annually. It is believed that the
Dutch first introduced cold brew to Kyoto, Japan
in the 1600s. It then made its way to the USA in
the 1960s, when the country first saw the first
cold brew producer called Toddy. The drink
further gained popularity in the USA in 2010 and
then later ruled the UK in 2014 and the rest of
the world post year 2016. In India, a brand named

The properties of cold brew coffee are dependent
upon the method of its preparation. Various
factors affecting the same are extraction time,
water temperature, bean type used, roasting and
grinding techniques. The preparation of cold brew
involves the following steps-

4- Coffee beans are roasted until they turn brown.
- Get coarse ground coffee and a cup of water at
room temperature. - Allow coffee beans to sit in cold water in the
refrigerator for 1224 hrs, so that you can still
extract the coffee flavour and the caffeine, but
without the oil. - You can use a brew ratio of 16.
- Filter the concentrate and dilute it with water
and you are good to go. - Pro tip- Perfect choice for cold brew coffee
would be some African brands such as some fruity
and juicy coffee beans or some beans roasted for
espresso.
