WHAT IS COUNSELING? Counseling is a type of
talking therapy that allows a person to discuss
their problem for solutions. Counselors are
trained to listen with empathy to deal with the
negative thoughts and feelings of the
patient. Sometimes the term "counseling" is used
to describe conversational therapy in general,
but counseling is also a type of therapy in its
own right. Other psychological therapy includes
psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and
relationship therapy which can happen between
family members, couples, or co-workers.
