NMC REFORMING REGULATIONS COMPULSORY ROTATING
INTERNSHIP

NMC RULES AND REGULATIONS
  • Medical Students who complete their medical
education in abroad now have to complete a 12
months supervised internship period in India
before they can register to practice in India.
  • NO medical graduate will be eligible for
permanent registration to practice medical in
India. Until they undergo the compulsory rotating
medical internship in India. As per the Latest
    notice of NMC.

COMPULSORY ROTATING INTERNSHIP
  • Medical education programmed a candidate enrolls
in must span a minimum of 54 months of
instruction and it should be in English-Medium.
The new regulations also require the candidates
to complete 12 months of internship in the same
foreign intuition where they studied the whole of
    the programmed.
  • If the whole program and internship or clerkship
shall be done outside India in the same foreign
medical college throughout the course of study
and no part of internship done in India or in any
country other than country from the primarily
education completed. Once they return, foreign
medical graduates have to complete another 12
    months of supervised internship before
    appearing for the licensing exam.

NEXT replacing FMGE
  • The Foreign Medical Graduates Examination(FMGE)
which very few people qualified, will be replaced
by the National Exit Test(NEXT). Students are
expected to study a curriculum that is equivalent
    to the Indian MBBS.
  • The National Medical Commissions (NMC) replacing
the Medical Council of India in 2019, the
NEXT(National Exit test) will also serve as an
exit exam for MBBS graduates in India and an
entrance test for postgraduate studies in
medicine (MD, MS). It is expected to eventually
replace the National Eligibility cum Entrance
    Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG).
  • There is a necessity to re-cast medical education
and training to enable the medical graduate to be
able to effectively discharge their role as a
physician in this changing world. The new demands
on medical education also necessitate redefining
    the standards.

KEY CHANGES FOR INTERNSHIP
  • Requirements for setting up the medical colleges
rationalized. New documents lay down what is
required in terms of lecture theatres,
laboratories, skills lab, library, hostels ,
professional medical professors and amenities for
both students and faculty members etc. A
    well-functioning hospital providing quality
services 247 is the most important part of the
    medical college.
  • Any legally established hospital can be a
teaching hospital if it has all the required
amount of patient load, and also provides good
teaching spaces. How much land is required for
the college is not for the regulator to prescribe
but it is dependent on the municipal norms such
as the floor area ratio allowed for construction
medical internship hospital. We have simplified
the regulations so that the emphasis may remain
firmly on quality and also put in other
requirements such as skills laboratory and Wi-Fi

BENEFITES OF NMC NEW RAGULATION
  • Earlier, Only the foreign Medical Graduates have
to the give the screening exam which was also
called as FMGE/MCI exam. Only after qualifying
this exam( score 50 or above), Medical degree
from abroad will be valid in India. A lot of
students were not able to pass this exam.
  • But after the NMC bill was passed, a new exam was
introduced called as NEXT ( National Exit Test)
which is also a medical screening exam but now,
both the Indian and foreign Medical graduates
have to qualify this exam to be eligible to work
in India. Now, it's highly possible that the
regulatory body will make the NEXT exam somewhat
earlier so that most of the Indian Graduates
especially from private colleges ca n pass this
    exam.
  • According to the NMC new regulation clearly spell
out that for recognition in India, Candidates
