About This Presentation
Title:

How Long Does it Take to Install a Wooden Fence?

Description:

Wood fences are more environmentally friendly than other types of fencing because they don't use chemicals, and can be a beautiful addition to your property. Lumber from the leftover pieces of trees that have been felled for other projects is sometimes used to make fences. The price for these leftovers is normally very low, making it a budget-friendly alternative to more expensive choices. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

How Long Does it Take to Install a Wooden Fence?
2
BELLEVUE FENCING
BEFORE YOU CAN BUILD A WOOD FENCE, YOU NEED TO
FIND THE RIGHT SPOT FOR IT. IT'S BEST TO CHOOSE A
PLACE WHERE THE FENCE BLENDS WELL WITH THE
LANDSCAPE AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO LOOK OUT OF
PLACE. WITH THE SITE SELECTED AND YOUR BLUEPRINTS
IN HAND, YOU CAN START YOUR PROJECT.

You'll need wood (or metal) posts with a diameter
large enough so that they are strong enough to
support the sand inlay when they are set into the
ground. You'll also need to dig a hole deep
enough so that the top of the post is at least 3"
below ground level and so that there is enough
depth to hold the sand.

THE NEXT STEP IS TO DIG A TRENCH BETWEEN POSTS,
MAKING SURE TO GET IT STRAIGHT AS YOU GO. BE
CAREFUL NOT TO BEND OR TWIST YOUR WOODEN FENCE
POST AS THIS WILL MAKE THEM WEAKER. THIS HELPS
REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE ON YOUR POST AND
KEEPS IT FROM SPLITTING WHEN YOU PUT A FENCE
AROUND IT.
5
NEXT, YOU NEED TO PLACE THE POSTS ON THE GROUND.
YOU'LL WANT TO USE A POST AUGER OR A MANUAL
SCREWPOST DRIVER TO DO THIS. THIS IS DONE BY
PUTTING THE POST IN AT AN ANGLE, THEN TWISTING OR
TURNING IT AND REPEATING THE PROCESS UNTIL IT
GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 3" BELOW GROUND LEVEL.

When your posts are in place you need to fill the
holes with sand, then secure them with rebar or
concrete. The rebar can be attached with
concrete, or you can strategically place the
rebar around the post to keep it from falling
into the hole.

IF YOU'RE WORKING WITH METAL POSTS, YOU'LL WANT
TO ANCHOR THEM BY DRIVING A 6" LONG STEEL ROD
INTO THE GROUND AT A DEPTH OF 1". THIS WILL
PREVENT THE POST FROM MOVING AND ALLOW FOR EASIER
REPLACEMENT IF THERE IS AN ISSUE LATER ON YOU CAN
RELY ON A WOODEN FENCE COMPANY IN BELLEVUE.
