Our Selection of Rublev Colours Pigments for
Casein Painting
Rublev Colours natural mineral, organic and
historical powder pigments are especially made by
Natural Pigments for artists. They are the same
pigments used by ancient, medieval and
Renaissance painters. Each pigment can be used
for different painting techniques. Whether you
are a novice or an experienced painter, youll
find Rublev Colours pigments well suited for use
in aqueous mediums, such as egg and casein
tempera, gum arabic (watercolor), hide glue
(distemper) and acrylic dispersions. They perform
equally well in oil and alkyd paint. Most are
suitable for fresco and other painting
techniques, such as encaustic.
3
Azurite (Pale) 50g
Azurite is natural carbonate of copper from ore
deposits in Hunan Province, China. It has a pale
blue masstone and a greenish gray undertone with
a fine grind of less than 20 micron particles.
4
Vivianite 100g
Vivianite is a rare mineral of hydrated iron
phosphate that exhibits an intense dark blue
color. Our vivianite comes from bogs around the
Moscow region, and has a dark blue masstone,
similar to indigo, with a reddish blue undertone.
5
Blue Verditer 100g
Blue verditer is the name given to artificial
basic copper carbonate with approximately the
same chemical composition as azurite. Our
Refiner's dark blue verditer is made according to
an English recipe of the 18th century. 100 g
(3.53 oz)

Cobalt Turquoise 100g
Cobalt Aluminate Blue pigment is cobalt aluminate
blue spinel (CoAl2O4) is produced by calcining,
at high temperature, a mixture of cobalt (II)
oxide, and aluminum (III) oxide in varied ratios
forming an interdiffused crystalline spinel. It
may include any one or more modifiers MgO, ZnO,
Li2O and/or TiO2.
7
Dioptase 10g
Dioptase is a copper silicate mineral found in
the upper oxidized portions of copper ore
deposits. Our bright green dioptase is from
Altyn-tyube, Kazakhstan, and is available as a
fine grade with a light bluish green masstone.
8
Volkonskoite 10g
A chromium-bearing mineral found in clay-bearing
sandstones. We get our deep forest green pigment
