5 Common Questions about Dental Hygiene
If you've ever wondered what kind of toothpaste
to use or why your gums hurt, you're not the
only person who has. Many of the people who put
the same questions about their dental health
with Dentists on Chinguacousy Rd. This is a
great set of questions, and we would like to
share some of them with you so you can learn
more about your overall oral health.
Why Do My Gums Bleed or Itch?
2
Bleeding or itchy gums may be caused by not
brushing or flossing enough. It can get under
your gums if you don't clean your teeth every
day. However, some patients have restorations
like fillings, crowns, or bridges that make their
mouths more likely to get bacteria because of
how they look. Poorly-shaped fillings and teeth
that are crowded or tilted make it more
difficult to clean your teeth, which leads to
bacterial build-ups. Patients who have long-term
inflammation and more pockets under their gums
give bacteria a place to hide. This is why it's
so important to get your teeth cleaned by a
professional twice a year. Your dentist and
hygienist can get rid of this bacteria build-up
and take steps to keep you from getting
sick. It's also common for pregnant women to
have bleeding gum because hormonal changes can
make gums a little more sensitive. Make sure to
see your dentist often while you're pregnant
because good oral health can help you have a
healthy child. Why Do I Have Calculus and Tartar
Build up? Even if you brush and floss your teeth
every day, there's still a chance that calculus
and tartar could build upon them. Calcium is
hardened plaque that is made from a mix of
protein materials in our mouth, like
spit. There is a large salivary gland under your
tongue, and if your saliva has a lot of minerals
in it, it can build up into tartar and calculus
more quickly. They build up calculus on the backs
of their front teeth because they don't brush
their teeth very often. It doesn't matter if
you're using a toothbrush or floss to clean your
teeth. Your saliva may have certain properties
that make it more likely to build up calculus and
tartar than a normal mouth. The best way to find
out about your own case is to talk to your
dentist. Also read Easy Ways to Remove Tartar

Options?

You can get cosmetic dentistry done in a lot of
different ways, with teeth whitening the most
common. In-clinic whitening treatment is faster,
more predictable, and more intense than at- home
whitening. At-home teeth whitening, with
custom-made trays or one-size-fits-all trays, is
a less intense way to get whiter
teeth. However, it's important to take care of
any dental work that needs to be done before you
start whitening your teeth. In this case, we
wouldn't whiten their teeth because the acid in
the whitening agents would likely make their
teeth more sensitive. Also, decaying teeth are
often discolored, and restorations will make the
decayed tooth look better. The best thing for
people with bad-shaped chipped, or stained teeth
is to get dental veneers. Custom-made thin
shells that fit over the top of your teeth make
them look whiter and straighter. What Kind of
Toothpaste Should I Use? Because each mouth is
different, you should choose a toothpaste that
can help you more than another one. You should
use toothpaste with sodium fluoride (an
anti-cavity ingredient) if you have a lot of
tooth decay. This will help slow down the rate
at which your teeth decay. A tartar control
toothpaste would be good if you have a lot of
plaque or tartar quickly build up. Your dentist
or hygienist can help you find the toothpaste
that will be best for you. You should also check
the ingredients of mouthwash to see if it has an
anti-cavity active ingredient because
mouthwashes that don't have this ingredient won't
help you keep your teeth healthy. Does
Whitening Toothpaste Work?
4
Whitening toothpaste isnt very good at
whitening. The most superficial surface stains
usually come off with these tools. They can be
made of abrasive materials that can be rough on
the enamel. They are the fastest, most
effective, and safest way to whiten teeth.
Whitening trays or in-office whitening
procedures are the best way to do this. Make sure
to talk to your dentist about which method is
best for you before you start any whitening
treatment.
