Title: How To Balance Active And Passive Fire Protection For Safety

1
HOW TO BALANCE ACTIVE AND PASSIVE FIRE
PROTECTION FOR SAFETY
2
Passive Fire Protection
Passive fire protection are an intrinsic part of
fire safety. The fundamental reason for
installation of a passive fire protection system
is to stop the spread of fire by making
compartments. This will safeguard the structure
as well as provide adequate time to escape. Such
installations do not require to be triggered in
an emergency.
3
Active Fire Protection
Unlike a passive fire protection, an active fire
protection system require some action to
extinguish a fire. This system is mainly used by
dispensing water and requires manual
intervention. A few examples include- smoke
alarms, fire sprinklers, fire extinguishers, etc.
However, these are not enough to fight a fire as
they do not provide structural integrity to the
building.
4
Striking The Perfect Balance
An active or a passive fire protection system
cannot work alone. The right combination of both
these systems are required to fight fires during
emergencies. A passive fire protection slows down
the spread of fire, while an active fire
protection manages the fire.
5
Wrapping Up
Always hire fire safety professionals to avoid
fire hazard. All the fire protective equipment in
your building should be regularly checked by
trained professionals. Remember that the right
combination of an active and a passive fire
protection will be able to mitigate a fire.
