The new doctor I went to see had been recommended
by several of my friends, and I was eager to see
if he could help me finally lose the excess
weight Id gained over the years. He was thorough
in his interview, and seemed genuinely concerned
about my health and well-being, which led me to
believe that he would indeed be the doctor who
would help me lose weight once and for all!

  • Being healthy is great, but it can also be
    hard. Trying to maintain a healthy diet and
    exercise program while juggling work, friends,
    family and everything else life throws at you can
    make you feel like theres never enough time for
    it all. But if youre trying to lose weight or
    avoid getting injuredor worsechances are that
    your health is going to take precedence. Thats
    why having a primary care doctor (PCP) is so
    important they can help you stay on track with
    your weight loss goals while also making sure
    that small problems dont develop into big ones
    later on down the road.

The first visit with my primary care doctor
  • The first time I went to my primary care
    physician, we talked about a lot of things. She
    asked me what I was doing for exercise, and how I
    felt about my eating habits. It was a real
    wake-up call for meit forced me to start taking
    responsibility for myself. The doctor asked if I
    was satisfied with my health overall and if there
    were any problems that needed to be addressed
    right away. And one of those issues turned out to
    be losing weight. She told me it would be really
    important to cut down on my sugar intake if I
    wanted to see a change in size, because all those
    pounds added up over time, like they do when you
    dont go in for regular checkups with your
    primary care physician!

My weight loss journey started here
  • On August 25, 2011 I stepped onto a scale at
    my primary care physician's office. I was
    weighing in at 239 lbs. My doctor told me that it
    was time to take my health into my own hands and
    do something about it. He referred me to a local
    dietitian who worked with him on new patient
    referrals. She met with myself and my wife
    separately and asked us some questions about our
    current eating habits, activity levels, sleep
    patterns, etc...
