Title: Ways To Prep Your Home For Fumigation

1
Ways To Prep Your Home For Fumigation
2
  • When you spotted a pest infestation in your home,
your first step might have been to resort to
natural methods of extermination. But in most
cases, these methods do not ensure the complete
eradication of pests. The next best method is
    pest fumigation.

3

The Process Of Fumigation
  • This process usually continues for 24 to 72 hours
unless interrupted by environmental factors. The
fumigant when released in an enclosed space,
penetrates the wood and other porous surfaces and
thus attacks the hiding spots of pests.

4

Preparing For Fumigation
  • 1. Shut off the gas source
  • 2. All living things need to be removed
  • 3. Eatables
  • 4. Medications
  • 5. Remove Plastics
  • 6. Inform the neighbours

5
Shut off the gas source
  • If you use natural gas, you have to temporarily
shut it off before the fumigation process. The
same applies to propane tanks too.

2. All living things need to be removed
  • This includes plants, animals and humans of
course. You cannot by any chance expose your pets
to these chemicals since they are harmful. So
letting them stay in the backyard is also not an
    option.

7
3. Eatables
  • You can either remove all the edible items to
another place or cover them properly before the
process starts. Nylon polymer film bags are a
good option for storing these items. This should
be done for pet food too.

8

4. Medications
  • The above rule applies to medicines too. You can
remove them or make sure that they are properly
    sealed.

9

5. Remove Plastics
  • Indoor pest control treatments like fumigation
use chemicals that can seep under or get trapped
under plastic covers. This can hinder the process
of aeration as the chemical is restricted inside

10

6. Inform the neighbours
  • This is an essential last step before you vacate
the premises. If the neighbours are aware of the
fumigation process, they will stay indoors to
    stay protected from harmful fumigants.

11
  • By following the above steps, you can ensure safe
and effective fumigation in your home. On the
other hand, if you are looking for fumigation for
stored food, warehouses or manufacturing plants,
then Phosphine gas fumigation is your best option.
