Who Is Lizzo?

• Lizzo has won three Grammy Awards, and her songs
  Good as Hell, Truth Hurts, and Juice are
  all big hits. Cuz I Love You (2019), her first
  album on a major label, made it into the Top Ten
  on Billboard. Lizzos name is a mix of her
  childhood nickname, Lissa, and the name of a
  Jay-Z song. She was on track to become an
  orchestral flautist before she became famous in
  rap and pop. Even though she changed the
  direction of her music, Lizzo has kept playing
  the flute, both on her first album and in live
  shows.

Play The Flute

• Lizzo started playing the flute in the fifth
  grade. She loved it so much that she played it in
  the marching band at her high school. Lizzo
  mostly played the flute, but she also rapped. As
  a teen, she wrote rhymes and put together groups
  with her friends.

Job Stress

• The song Truth Hurts was released as a single
  in 2017. When the song didnt do well, Lizzo
  thought about giving up music. In 2018, she went
  to therapy because the stress of her job had worn
  her down emotionally.

Success Like Never Before

• Lizzo had trouble using her full vocal range
  because the big Black girls were always the
  belters, and she was afraid of being put in that
  category. Her range was shown on her first album
  for a major label, Cuz I Love You (2019). Lizzos
  record had everything ballads, raps that made
  you want to listen, and songs that were perfect
  for dancing at the club

Problem with Song

• Lizzo had a problem with the rights to her song
  Truth Hurts, but a lawsuit against her was
  dropped. She did give credit to the person who
  had tweeted the first line of the song.

Body Confidence

• I felt bad about my body for a long time, Lizzo
  has said. She finally realised, I need to find a
  way to like myself if I want to keep living in
  this body, stay alive in this body, be happy, and
  enjoy life.
• Lizzo isnt sure what to make of some of the
  praise shes gotten for being body positive. She
  told Glamour, I dont like when people think
  its hard for me to see myself as beautiful. I
  dont like it when people are surprised by what I
  do.

Body Negativity is the Norm

• Lizzo has said, Body positivity is only a thing
  because body negativity is the norm. She hopes
  that accepting bodies of all shapes and sizes
  will become normal and go beyond the
  entertainment industry There is a Black girl who
  is overweight at the Grammys. But hospitals,
  doctors, and the workplace still dont treat
  plus-size Black women the way they should, you
  know what I mean?
