1 WHAT IS THE PHOBIA
A phobia is part of anxiety disorder refer
overmuch fear of a thing or situation. Phobias
can be divided into specific phobias,
agoraphobia, and social anxiety disorder.
According to research Specific phobias affect
about 6 8 of people in the Western world and 2
4 in Asia, Africa, and Latin America in a
given year. Social phobia affects about 7 of
people in the United States (US) and 0.5 2.5
of people in the out of this world. Phobias vary
in severity among people. Some people can avoid
or ignore the subject and experience relatively
mild anxiety over that fear and Most of these
individuals understand that their fear is
irrational but cannot override their panic
response. These individuals usually report
unsteadiness, loss of bladder or bowel control,
feelings of pain, and shortness of breath

- Acrophobia refers as extreme fear of height is
also treatable with a psychological therapy
called exposure therapy. People with acrophobia
suffer intense and unreasonable fear when theyre
faced with heights, including everyday tasks such
as climbing a flight of stairs, Being on or
crossing over a bridge, Being on a rollercoaster,
Standing near a balcony or at the top of a
building, Looking out a window of a tall
building, standing near a balcony, or parking a
car in a multiple-floor parking garage.
4A specific phobia means consistent fear of a
specific object or situation that's out of
proportion to the actual risk. There are many
types of specific phobias like, animal phobias,
phobias of the natural environment, Situational
phobias, Body-based phobia Sexual phobias etc.
Specific phobias can also occur along with other
types of anxiety disorders. Specific phobia about
more than one object or situation its not
unusual to experience.

phobia People with social anxiety disorder have
intense fear of attend social activities at work,
school, or other public places. People with this
disorder feel embarrassed or humiliated by their
own actions and always scared being judged by
others. There are many physical symptoms of
social anxiety disorder that you can identify
easily like Blushing, sweating, trembling,
displaying a rigid body posture, poor eye
contact, or speaking too quietly and experiencing
a rapid heart rate, or feeling the mind going
blank
6 CAUSE OF PHOBIA
- There are various theories about the
physiological causes of phobias when individual
faced with the object of their fears, phobic
individuals experience near paralyzing versions
of general fear symptoms like dry mouth, elevated
heart rate, dizziness, sweating or even panic
attacks. A phobia disorder can develop at any age
from childhood to early adulthood. Complex
phobias visually develop during adulthood and are
usually linked to an extended fear about a
particular circumstance.There is not one set
cause for phobias, but there are several factors
that are associated with the increased likelihood
of the development of phobias such as - 1) Experience of an early negative
experience, incident or trauma related to the - phobic stimuli
- 2) Learning from a family member
- 3) Genetic predisposition, shown in family
history of anxiety - 4) Evolutionary reason for fear may increase
likelihood
