Definition of Chemistry a science that deals
with the composition, structure, and properties
of substances. Pharmaceutical Chemistry
-Pharmaceutical chemistry is the study of drugs,
and a science that deals with the composition,
structure, and properties of substances. -it
involves drug development. This includes drug
discovery, delivery, absorption, metabolism, and
more.

TYPES OF CHEMISTRY The study of organic compounds
is termed as organic chemistry. The study of
inorganic compounds is inorganic chemistry. The
organic compounds mainly result from activities
of a living being. Whereas, inorganic compounds
are obtained from the natural processes which are
not related to any of the life forms on earth or
any result of human experiments which are
conducted in laboratories. The difference between
organic and inorganic compounds does not end with
the presence or the absence of carbon atoms in
them. These have characteristics of both the
types of compounds which are said to be different.

ORGANIC COMPOUND INORGANIC COMPOUND
1.The study of organic compounds is termed as organic chemistry. 1.The study of inorganic compounds is inorganic chemistry.
2.Organic compound usually contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. And also they always contain carbon-hydrogen bond. 2.Inorganic compound may contain carbon. And also they not contain carbon-hydrogen bond.
3.May found in living things. 3.May found in non living things.
4.They are insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvent 4.They are soluble in water but non-soluble in organic solvent
5.They are highly inflammable. 5.They are Non inflammable.
6. Eg Sugars, Proteins etc 6.Eg Sodium hydroxide, Metals etc
6
Definition of PHARMACY It is the science of
preparing, preserving, compounding, and
dispensing medical drugs. The place where
medicines are compounded and dispensed.

PHARMACOPOEIA
10
  • A pharmacopoeia, or pharmacopeia, or
    pharmacopoea
  • It is derived from two greek word pharmakon (A
drug or medicine) and Poieo (to make), so
    pharmacopoeia is a "drug-making")
  • It is a Standard book containing directions for
the identification of compound or medicines,
    there formulas, structures, applications, uses,
property, methods of preparations, Dosage forms,
Dose, i.e Descriptions of preparations are called
monographs. Also it is a reference work for
    pharmaceutical drug specifications.
  • It is published by the authority of a government
or a medical or pharmaceutical society.
  • Committee under the chairmanship of R.N.Chopra.
  • Eg. INDIAN pharmacopoeia, IP
  • BRITISH Pharmacopoeia, BP
  • UNITED STATES Pharmacopoeia, USP
  • Europian Pharmacopoeia
