Title: Cost and Procedure of ICSI Treatment in India

1
Cost and Procedure of ICSI Treatment in India
2
  • ICSI stands for Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm
    Injection.
  • It is an IVF or in vitro fertilization procedure
in which sperm is injected directly into the
cytoplasm of the egg cell or ovum.
  • This method is used to overcome male infertility.
  • It was introduced in the early 1990s and has been
used successfully to treat many men with
    infertility problems.

3
Why is ICSI performed?
  • Low sperm count in male partners.
  • Males with fewer motile sperms or sperms move
less and do not reach the eggs.
  • Sperm with unusual shapes, such as round heads.
  • For couples who have experienced multiple
    unexplained fertilization failures.
  • Sperm absence in the ejaculate due to
    obstructions.
  • Sperm deficiency due to faulty sperm production.
  • Ejaculatory problems.
  • infections or immunological components.

4
ICSI Success Rate
  • The eggs and sperm are collected on the same day
that the procedure is to be performed.
  • The egg will be extracted from the female's body
    using an ultrasound-guided needle.
  • The male partner will provide a sperm sample the
    same day.
  • If there is no sperm in the sample, the doctors
will extract it from the testicle itself.
  • The cells surrounding the egg are scraped, and a
needle is inserted to inject the sperm.
  • At this stage, 5-10 of the eggs degenerate,
    failing the entire process.

5
  • ICSI Procedure has an extremely high success
    rate.
  • The process is carried out under carefully
monitored lab conditions, and success rates can
    reach 80.
  • The sperm and egg were earlier combined, allowing
the sperm to enter the egg on its own without any
    assistance from a human.
  • These methods did not produce any fruitful
    outcomes.
  • Modern methods are extremely sophisticated and
    provide fruitful outcomes.

6
  • In the case of male infertility, ICSI is
    extremely beneficial.
  • Fertilization does not occur when the sperm is of
    poor quality.
  • Similarly, ICSI works when the sperm is immobile.
  • If the sperm is immobile, it cannot reach the
eggs. In some cases, there are no sperms in the
    ejaculate.
  • This is referred to as azoospermia.
  • ICSI works like magic in cases of both
    obstructive and non-obstructive azoospermia.
  • It is also beneficial for people who had their
    sperm frozen before treatment.

7
  • ICSI Treatment has a success rate of 50 to 80,
there is no guarantee that the embryos will be
    healthy.
  • Sometimes the female's age plays a significant
role and can lead to failure.
  • It is also important that the sperm is in good
    health.
  • Fertilization may not occur if the sperm is not
    in good health.
  • However, once the childbirth is complete, the
chances of defects in the baby are extremely low
    less than 1.
