- Taj Mahal The Taj Mahal is an Islamic
ivory-white marble tomb on the right bank of the
river Yamuna in the megacity of Agra. It was
custom-made in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah
Jahan to house the tomb of his favorite wife,
Mumtaz Mahal. The tomb is the centerpiece of a
17-hectare (42-acre) compound, which comprises a
mosque and a guest house, and is set in formal
gardens bounded on three sides by a crenelated
wall. The Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful

wonders of the world. The name "Taj Mahal" was
come from the name of Shah Jahan's wife, Mumtaz
Mahal, and means "Crown Palace".The Taj Mahal was

the universally admired masterworks of the
world's heritage". It is observed by many as the
best example of Mughal construction and a

4- Agra Fort Agra Fort is a historical(antic) fort
in the city of Agra in India. It was constructed
during 1565-1573 for Mughal Emperor Akbar. It was
the main house of the rulers of the Sikarwar clan
of Rajputs until the Mughals occupied it and
Mughal Dynasty until 1638 when the capital was
shifted from Agra to Delhi. It was also known as
the Lal-Qila. Before capture by the British,
the last Indian rulers rules were the Marathas.
In 1983, the Agra fort was registered as a UNESCO
World Heritage Site. It is about 2.5 km northwest
of its more well-known monument, the Taj Mahal.

walled city. After the first battle of Panipat
(A.D. 1526) Mughals took over the fort and ruled
from it. In A.D. 1530, Humayun was crowned in it.
The Fort got its present appearance in the rule
of Akbar (A.D. 15561605). - Chini Ka Rauza (China Tomb) Chini ka Rauza also
known as China Tomb, is a funerary monument,
Rauza(maqbara) in Agra, containing the tomb of
Afzal Khan Shirazi, an intellectual and poet who
was the Prime Minister of the Mughal Emperor Shah
Jahan. The tomb was constructed in 1635. The
Chini Ka Rauza is located just 1 kilometer north
of Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb, on the eastern bank of
Yamuna River in Agra, and 2 kilometers away from
the Taj Mahal. The frontage of the China tomb is
also known for its glazed tile work, called chini
in Mughal era buildings. The tomb is built
opposite the city of Mecca. - Anguri Bagh Anguri Bagh is constructed by Shah
Jahan in 1637, it is bordered by the Khas Mahal
on its east and red sandstone pathways on its
other three borders. As the name suggests, Anguri
Bagh was known for its rich production of grapes
and flowers and was also the central area of the
zenana. The garden area was a private area for
relaxation for the imperial women. Anguri Bagh is
a rambling charbagh (four compound compartments)
styled garden, centrally positioned on the
grounds of Khas Mahal in Agra Fort. It is made up
of a concrete platform with a fountain in the
central. The garden is divided into various
subdivisions with elaborate geometric designs. To
the northeast of Anguri Bagh are assemblies that
were used as royal bath houses and were
abundantly decorated with fine wall paintings.
