creed, caste, and religion to become universal
and inclusive. In the quest of man to attain
spiritual awakening as well as worldly
prosperity, Diwali is the most significant day of
the year when relationships between family
members and the community are strengthened as
business ventures are given an impressive head

associated with important historical events. In
northern India, Diwali marks the date of Rama's
return to Rama after beating Ravana as an evil
symbol, which is celebrated with complete
commitment. Each year, the idols of Ravana are
burned in an open-air event. The ceremony is
attended by a large number of people. In the
calendar of religious holidays throughout India,
Diwali is among the most popular celebrations.
Its primary significance is tied to our desire to
be loving and pure when we interact with others
and to transcend the selfish desires of others.
