What is Hard Water?
  • Hard water contains high amounts of calcium and
magnesium, two minerals found naturally in water.
Hard water is full of "stuff"but it's not dirt.
Hard water contains minerals that are actually
nutrients. Drinking hard water with lots of
essential minerals is good for your health.

4
 What is Soft Water?
  • Soft water, water that is free of dissolved salts
of metals such as calcium, iron, or magnesium,
which forms insoluble deposits such as scales in
boilers or shows up as soap curds in bathtubs and
laundry equipment. See also hard water.

Difference between Hard water VS Soft water
Hard water Soft water
It has a high concentration of minerals. Minerals are present in small amounts in it.
Contains mainly calcium and magnesium. It contains only sodium.
It is preferred as drinking water. It is not preferred as drinking water.
It has the characteristic of taste. Its taste is salty.
Not suitable for boilers and other equipment. It can be used independently in boilers and other equipment.
It is not beneficial for skin and hair. Hair and Skin will dry out. It is good for skin and hair. Hair and skin become soft.

Example of Hard water and Soft waters
  • Groundwater like deep wells is an example
  • of hard water.
  •  Rain water is an example of soft water

7
How to get rid of Hard water
  • Add washing soda when washing your clothes
Washing soda or sodium carbonate is soluble in
water, and hard water reacts with the minerals
calcium and magnesium to soften your water.

8
Hard water VS Soft water which is better
  • Hard water and soft water both have their own
properties. Since hard water contains calcium and
magnesium, it is better to drink and taste than
soft water. Soft water is salty in taste because
    it contains sodium.
  • Soft water is preferred for cleaning, as it
rarely creates soap or mineral stains. It is an
efficient and effective cleaning agent. Soft
water is better for skin and hair than hard
water. Washing your hair regularly with hard
water can make your scalp itchy.
