Title: Triple-negative breast cancer symptoms

1
Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Treatment
  • About Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC)
  • Triple-negative breast cancer accounts for
approximately 10 to 15 of all breast cancers.
The term triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC)
refers to the fact that the cancer cells dont
    have estrogen
  • receptors (ER) or progesterone receptors (PR) and
also dont create any or excess protein known as
HER2. (The cells test "negative" on all 3 tests.)
These cancers tend to be a bit more common in
women aged less than 40, who are Black, or who
    have a BRCA1 mutation.
  • Triple-Negative Breast Cancer differs from other
kinds of invasive breast cancer in that it tends
to progress and spread quickly, has limited
treatment options, and tends to have a poor
    prognosis (outcome).
  • Common Characteristics of Triple-Negative Breast
Cancer Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is
usually a bit more aggressive, difficult to
treat, and more likely to recur than cancers that
    are HR-positive or HER2-positive.
  • Who Gets Triple-Negative Breast Cancer
  • Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is more
    common in
  • women aged less than 40
  • Black women

2
  • women who have a BRCA1 mutation
  • Stats As per American Cancer Society,
    triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) represents
10 percent of breast cancers overall, but around
20 percent among Black women, who are affected
    more than any other group.
  • Treatments for Triple-Negative Breast Cancer
  • Treatments for triple-negative breast cancer may
    include
  • surgery
  • chemotherapy
  • immunotherapy
  • radiation therapy
  • Newer Treatments for Triple-Negative Breast
    Cancer
  • Currently, Keytruda (pembrolizumab) is approved
by the U.S. FDA for treating unresectable locally
    advanced or metastatic triple-negative,
    PD-L1-positive breast cancer, along with
chemotherapy. All cancers that are unresectable
    cannot be surgically eliminated.
  • The Food and Drug Administration has also
approved Keytruda along with chemotherapy prior
to surgery, followed by Keytruda alone after
    surgery for treating early-stage, triple-negative
breast cancer that has a high probability of
    coming back (recurrence).
  • Currently, Trodelvy (sacituzumab govitecan-hziy)
is approved by the Food and Drug Administration
    for treating previously treated, metastatic
    triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).
  • Trodelvy is supplied for injection 180 mg
lyophilized powder in single-dose vials for
    reconstitution for intravenous administration.
