  • As a community, we have developed a habit of
drinking with a straw for convenience. Single-use
plastics are, to put it simply, convenient. But
our ecosystem pays a heavy price for this
    comfort.
  • One of the main components of landfills is
single-use plastic. They are astounding in their
sheer number. Not only that, but when they do
disintegrate, they do so far more slowly and
    produce dangerous microplastics that could
contaminate soil and water. To reduce plastic
waste, cutting back on plastic consumption is the
    first step.

What is the plastic ban in India?
  • India has put a statewide ban on the production,
import, distribution, sale, and use of different
single-use plastic items due to the amount of
pollution and the harm it causes to terrestrial
    and aquatic ecosystems.
  • Contrary to common misconception, this was not a
last-minute choice rather, it was taken in
accordance with a national resolution adopted
during the fourth United Nations Environment
    Assembly.
  • One should grasp single-use plastics in order to
better comprehend what the ban is on.

What are single-use plastics (SUP)?
  • This prohibition (effective July 1, 2022) targets
single-use plastics in the nation that have a
high risk for littering and poor utility. These
plastics are disposable after only one usage, as
    their name implies.
  • Since 1970, these compounds, which are primarily
made from petrochemicals or chemicals derived
from fossil fuels, have changed the demand among
    manufacturers.
  • India has outlawed 21 different sorts of SUP,
such as plastic straws, plates, silverware, and
earbuds with plastic sticks. The government
specifically targeted plastics with little to no
potential for recycling with this ban.

Products by Cosmo Films
  • Although it makes sense to classify all plastics
together due to confusion, Cosmo Films' products
    are exempt from this restriction.
  • Our offerings are films made from BOPP
    (bi-axially oriented polypropylene). They are
also recyclable, which is a distinguishing
quality that sets them apart from the single-use
    plastics group.
  • Cosmo Films has always concentrated on producing
    environmentally friendly substitutes because it
is aware of the harm that plastics cause to our
environment. Our special variations, such the
    HST-1 (OBD), are a class of oxo-biodegradable
    printing pouching film.
  • We have also been collaborating with some of the
top international companies to provide solutions
    for structural optimization and recyclability.
