• Hospital pharmacy is the health care service,
• it is a specialized field of pharmacy which
  forms an integrated part of patient health care
  in a health facility

Description of attachment area

• Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital which is
  located in lideta sub city, woreda, and kebele
• The College of Health Sciences (CHS), Addis Ababa
  University (AAU), is a professional health
  sciences college, established in 2009/10 by the
  reorganization of previously separate
  institutions of health under one umbrella.

• The CHS is comprised of four schools and one
  teaching hospital
• (TASH) is the teaching hospital of the College.
• TASH is the largest specialized hospital in
  Ethiopia, with over 700 beds, and serves as a
  training centre for student

Observation and Discussion

• I observe in TASH pharmacy there are different
  department of hospital pharmacy that are OPD
  pharmacy, In Patient, Emergency pharmacy, ART
  pharmacy.so during my stay in these department
  there are drug which are arranged
  pharmacologically and

• Strength
• TASH pharmacy applies APTS and in all department
• All pharmacy is near by wards
• There is good documentation
• Well ventilated OPD ,ART and IP pharmacy room
  and full material such as shelf
• Narcotic and anti psychotic drug are in the
  locked cabinet
• The drug arranged professional manner
• good drug availability

• Weakness
• There is no compounding services
• Pharmacist does not give full and specific
  patient advice during dispensing
• There is no waiting area
• In the in patient pharmacy the arrangement of the
  room and drug not oriented
• Emergency pharmacy are narrow and not ventilated
  room and substandard
• There is no counselling room
• Same pharmacist has ethical problem

Monograph Of Gabapentin

• Generic name-gabapentin
• Available Brand -Neurontin with a prices of 80
  birr /stripe
• Available dosage form - capsule
• Strength of gabapentin -150mg
• Mechanism of action - the alpha2-delta
  (alpha2-delta) protein, an auxiliary subunit of
  voltage-gated calcium channels.

  per day(max 1800)
• For postherpetic neuralgia- Adults At first, 300
  milligrams (mg) as a single dose in the evening

• feeling sleepy, tired or dizzy, feeling sick
  (nausea), being sick (vomiting )
• Rare very serious side effect if occur suicide

• Swallow the tablets whole. Do not crush or chew
  the tablets. Doing so can release all of the drug
  at once

  pharmacist or if you have any other allergies.

  which can cause allergic reactions or other
  problems..

Summary and Recommendations

• As a general TASH has good hospital pharmacy
  layout
• as recommendations hospital management and
  pharmacy unit leader should offer the supervision
  of pharmacy personnel
• Pharmacist must have a disciple and respect the
  patient
• information provision and counselling as much as
  possible
• Stock out medications should be reported timely
  and supply should be facilitated.

• Our contribution our stay
• Assisting staff for prescription evaluation and
  dispensing
• Counselling and information provision for
  patients/care giver
• Arranging pharmaceutical products on shelf based
  on their therapeutics indication
• Arranging fast moving medications and bringing
  them near to counter
• We learnt different iv drug and we experience
  dispensing and APTS
