What is an FSSAI license ?

• All Food Business Operators (FBOs) in India are
  required to obtain an FSSAI registration prior to
  starting any food businesses.
• An FSSAI license must be obtained by all
  distributors, producers, eateries, food
  importers, exporters, service providers for food
  storage and transportation, and other parties
  involved in the food sector.

Importance of FSSAI Renewal in India

• FSSAI registration or license of FBOs will expire

FSSAI Registration Process

• FBOs can register with the FSSAI online by
  completing and submitting the relevant form, i.e.
  on the Foscos website, submit Form A
  (application for registration) or Form B
  (application for state and central license).
• The documents must be physically or
  electronically given to the Food and Safety
  Department with the application at the time of
  filling out the Foscos site.
• Within seven days of receiving an application
  physically or electronically through the Foscos
  portal, the Department may approve or reject the
  FSSAI form.
• The applicant must receive written notification
  if their application is rejected.
• The Department will examine the documents and
  inspect the food facilities if necessary.
• If the Department determines that the FBO
  satisfies all standards, it will provide an FSSAI
  registration certificate containing the
  registration number, the applicants photo, and
  their email address.
• The applicant may also download the FSSAI
  certificate by logging onto the Foscos portal.
• During business hours, FBO should visibly display
  the FSSAI certificate at the location of the
  business.

Types of Food license

• FSSAI has three types of licenses

  of more than 12 lakhs/year but less than 20
  crores/year). Applications for State food license
  must be submitted with the relevant Form B.
• Central FSSAI License (for businesses with
  revenue exceeding 20 crores/year). Applications
  for Central food License must be submitted with
  the relevant Form B.
