Title: What Makes Peruvian Food Unique

1
What Makes Peruvian Food Unique
Peru was once awarded the Worlds Leading
Culinary destination in 2012. To date, foodies
across the globe flock to Peru to have a taste,
but what makes Peruvian food so unique? 1.
Unmatched flavor The best thing about Peruvian
food is one dish could have different variations
and recipes. Due to the abundance of ingredients
and numerous varieties of staples like corn and
potatoes, there is an unending list of foods you
can prepare, from appetizers to main courses and
desserts. For example, the common Ceviche offers
a mix of flavors with lime juice giving the food
a unique touch that is impossible to imitate.
Peru also has easy access to different fruits
used to make different incredible deserts.
Besides food, Peru is renowned for its drinks
which
2
boast unique flavors. For example, Chicha Morada
is a Peruvian drink made from Peruvian purple
corn, cinnamon, and lemon. It has an amazing
flavor, and the ingredients give the drink an
exotic color, which makes it unique. 2. Numerous
readily available ingredients Peru has three main
regions the Coat, Andean and Jungle. Each of
these regions has native ingredients, which gives
their food a unique taste. However, one common
thing across the country is the abundance of
various ingredients. The four commonly used
ingredients when making Peruvian cuisine are
potatoes, Aji, Quinoa, and maize. More than 4,000
varieties of potatoes are growing in Peru,
varying in size, color, shape, and taste, and are
used in preparing different meals. Yellow chili
pepper, also known as Aji Amarillo, is an
essential ingredient in different cuisine. It can
be fried, boiled, or tastes depending on the
meal. Aji has a distinct
3
fruity flavor which is hard to find in other
chilevarieties. It gives the stews, sauces,
Ceviche, and soups a distinct taste. Different
varieties of Quinoa (white, red, and black) are
also commonly used when making Peruvian foods.
Although it has gained popularity across the
planet, Quinoais majorly produced in Peru and
gives the perfect sop up to stews. In Peru,
different varieties of maize come in different
colors and have varying flavors. 3. Infusion with
different cultures They say you should always be
adaptable in life. Peruvian cuisines have been
influenced by other cultures, and the result was
unique foods exclusive only to Peruvians. In the
19th century, when there were migrations and
people from China, Italy and Japan came to Peru,
they introduced new foods infused with Peruvian
food to create new
meals.
4
The Chineses influenced Peruvian cuisines and
gave rise to Chifa, while Japanese food infused
with Peruvian food introduced creative dishes
like Maki in acevichada sauce. Italians, who for
the longest time have been proud of their food,
carried along their love for pasta and sauce.
Their meals got integrated into Peruvian dishes
to introduce Soap Manestron, among others. The
different ingredients available in Peru and the
introduction of new foods from the immigrants
brought about an evolution of Peruvian
cuisine. Get the Best of Peruvian Foods Adding to
