What is ISPM?

  lly it also reduces the moisture content of the

• Methyl Bromide
• Treating the wooden packaging materials with
  methyl bromide is the lengthiest process as per
  the ISPM guideline. The chemical used is called
  bromomethane, a colourless, odourless gas. The
  process is often avoided due to the gass toxic
  properties but it is a suitable pesticide for
  treating wood. The process involves putting the
  wooden pallets into a chamber and filling it up
  with MB. The process should be carried out for 24
  hours.

• Direct Heat treatment
• In this treatment alternating current is used
  with high frequency or microwave or radio
  electromagnetic waves are incorporated to heat up
  the wood up to 60-degree celsius for 60 minutes.
