About Napoleon III
Napoleon III was the first President of France,
serving from 1848 to 1852, and the last Emperor
of France, reigning from 1852 to 1870. He was
elected to the presidency of the Second Republic
in 1848 as Napoleon I's nephew, and he seized
power by force in 1851 when he could not be re-
elected constitutionally.
