3WINNER
Hutong
You can expect big things when dining in this
Dubai outpost. Serving up dishes from the north
of China with a trust me tasting menu that
changes on the reg, the food comes out in
immaculate courses that layer on the spice. Its
easily one of the best Chinese restaurants to
eat at in Dubai. Licensed. Gate Building 6, DIFC,
www.hutong- dubai.com (04 220 0868).
4Long Teng Seafood Restaurant
Maybe its because of its careful crafting and
fantastic flavours, or maybe its because of its
more affordable prices, but a meal at Long Teng
Seafood Restaurant is always a delight.
Revolving around a huge aquarium and seafood
display where you can pick your preferred catch
(theres nowhere better for Chinese fish), a
dedicated kitchen for duck and a sprawling
terrace with views across Business Bay and
beyond, we suggest going with the chefs
suggestion they more than know their stuff.
5TÀN CHÁ
Tàn Chá which translates as to explore in
Mandarin may have only opened its doors in the
JW Marriott Marquis Dubai last year, but it has
quickly become a must-visit restaurant for
Chinese food in Dubai. This lively moodily-lit
venue also has a cool, clubby atmosphere about
it that makes it a great spot for a Saturday
night, while its menu comprises plenty of fan
favourites including wasabi prawns, soft shell
crab, and a rather extra Peking duck which we
suggest enjoying out on the terrace.
6SHORTLISTED
Demon Duck
The Dubai debut from renowned chef and
television personality Alvin Leung, expect a
memorable dining experience. Priding itself on
refined yet playful Asian and Chinese cuisine,
Leungs electrifying dishes never cease to
enchant, particularly his slow-roasting Peking
duck and reimagined versions of classics such as
black and white Dover sole. Thats date night
sorted.
7DIN TAI FUNG
Whether youre heading to Din Tai Fung for the
first time or the 100th, its a Chinese stalwart
that never fails to deliver. One for dim sum
devotees and also part of a global dumpling
empire that includes over 150 restaurants and a
committed legion of adoring fans its a place
where towers of bamboo steamers race across the
restaurant and sensationally squidgy buns are
just begging to be devoured. Just be prepared to
queue at prime dining times dont worry, its
more than worth the wait.
8HAKKASAN
In the market for swanky Chinese food in Dubai?
Then youve come to the right place. A dark
labyrinth of latticed nooks within Atlantis The
Palm that serves up pricey Hong Kong-style
Chinese food thats worthy of the hype, the dim
sum steamer baskets and Jasmine tea smoked Wagyu
beef ribs should be top of your order list.
Either bring a crowd so you can order more
dishes or simply treat yourself out for a chic
date at this sleek spot. You deserve it.
9MAIDEN SHANGHAI
The first thing youll notice when you step
inside Maiden Shanghai are the breathtaking
views from the restaurants immense terrace. The
second thing youll notice is just how
unbelievably good everything tastes. From the
salt and pepper squid of dreams to an endless
choice of dim sum courtesy of Chef Bing, its
1920s-inspired décor just adds to the wow
factor. Wash it all down with a few expertly-
crafted mixed drinks and youll easily find
yourself in its private karaoke room at the end
of the night.
10ROYAL CHINA
Be sure to arrive hungry for a meal at Royal
China or youll have some very tricky decisions
on your hands. One of the longest-standing
Chinese restaurants in Dubai, its dishes are
comforting, classic and consistently good,
especially if you order from the dedicated dim
sum menu. That said, the à la carte is just as
good. As for the interiors, its warm golden hues
and red tassels feel quintessentially Chinese,
welcoming you back each time like a big, warm
hug.
11THE CHINA CLUB
- A casual Chinese restaurant in Dubai thats
perfect for a catch-up with friends or, more
importantly, a catch-up with its noodles, The
China Club is as unpretentious as they come.
Boasting a reassuringly detailed menu with a
vast array of health-conscious dishes and chefs
recommendations, even its interiors are
old-worldly, with carpeted walls and plenty of
black and white prints that line the walls. - The best bit? It more than caters to vegetarians
too, meaning you can bring the whole gang along
for the ride.
12ZHENG HES
Got a date who loves fancy Chinese food in an
even fancier setting? Then take them to Zeng
Hes. Not only will you find stunning views of
the Madinat Jumeirah waterways and the Burj Al
Arab, attentive staff and award-winning food,
but its dimly lit, cosy interior comes filled
with dark wood and oriental touches that will
transport you straight to China. If youre after
a fancy feast, this is your place.
