The online IELTS test consists of four sections

• Listening Test-takers listen to a series of
  audio recordings and answer questions based on
  the information they hear. The audio is played
  through the test interface, and test-takers
  submit their answers online.
• Reading Test-takers read a variety of texts and
  answer multiple-choice, matching, and other types
  of questions to demonstrate their reading
  comprehension skills. The reading materials are
  presented on the screen, and answers are
  submitted online.
• Writing Test-takers complete two writing tasks.
  In Task 1, they may be asked to describe a graph,
  table, or diagram. In Task 2, they write an essay
  on a given topic. Responses are typed directly
  into the test interface.
• Speaking The speaking section is conducted
  through a live online interview with a certified
  IELTS examiner. Test-takers participate in a
  conversation with the examiner, who asks
  questions related to personal experiences,
  opinions, and a short topic presentation
