3About The Show
The LA Art Show was created to bring together
artists, art enthusiasts, and customers to
discuss various kinds of artistic expression. It
takes place at the LA Convention Centre, which
has an exhibition space of more than 180,000
square feet. There are often more than 200
exhibitors, with more than 40 of them being the
most prominent galleries. The LA Art Show also
includes panel discussions with artists whose
work has been displayed there as well as lectures
and debates on topics related to contemporary
art in America. Kim Martindale established The LA
Art Show in 1994 to display American regionalism
and historic artwork. Originally hosted in Santa
Monica, it was relocated to downtown Los Angeles
in 2009, where it served as the impetus for the
areas resurgence.
