4FRONT END WHEEL ALIGNMENT
- Front-end wheel alignment refers to the angle and
orientation of the wheels relative to each other
and the vehicles frame. A properly aligned
vehicle will have all four wheels perpendicular
to the ground and parallel to each other.
Front-end wheel alignment includes three primary
measurements camber, caster, and toe. - Camber refers to the angle of the wheels when
viewed from the front or rear of the vehicle. - Caster refers to the angle of the steering axis
when viewed from the side of the vehicle. - Toe refers to the angle of the wheels when viewed
from above.
5WHY IS FRONT END WHEEL ALIGNMENT IMPORTANT?
- Improved Handling - Proper alignment ensures that
all four tires make consistent and even contact
with the road, providing better handling and
stability. - Increased Fuel Efficiency - When tires are
properly aligned, they roll more easily and
require less energy to move, resulting in
improved fuel efficiency. - Longer Tire Life - Proper alignment ensures that
tires wear evenly, extending their lifespan and
reducing the need for replacement. - Safer Driving - Correct alignment ensures that
your vehicle handles predictably and can respond
to emergency maneuvers quickly and effectively,
improving safety.
6WHEN TO GET FRONT END WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECKED
- It is recommended to have your vehicle's front
end wheel alignment checked at least once a year
or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first.
However, there are several signs that may
indicate the need for an alignment check - Uneven tire wear - Uneven tire wear can be a sign
of improper alignment and should be checked
immediately. - Pulling or drifting - If your vehicle pulls to
one side or drifts, even when driving on a
straight road, it may indicate an alignment
issue. - Steering wheel off-center - If your steering
wheel is not centered when driving straight, it
may indicate an alignment problem. - Vibrations - Vibrations in the steering wheel or
through the vehicle can indicate an alignment
issue or other mechanical problem.
