The Indian American Impact Project brought on
June 6 brought together over 350 South Asian
American attendees from across the country for
its 2023 summit and gala, Next 100 Years
featuring distinguished guests such as Associate
Attorney General Vanita Gupta, civil rights
activist Valarie Kaur, Mayor Aftab Pureval,
Senators Chuck Schumer and Cory Booker, U.S.
Representatives Hakeem Jeffries, Pramila Jayapal,
Ro Khanna, Raja Krishnamoorthi, and Shri Thanedar.

Lawmakers came and held forth. On Mahatma Gandhi.
On the Taj Mahal. And Indian Americans, their
riches, and their achievements. Anything but
Hindu Americans. The problem The lawmakers had
been invited to an event hosted by a combination
of Hindu Americans Americans for Hindus and the
Hindu American Foundation in Capitol Hill on
June 14 to support and bless a move to launch a
religion-specific Hindu Caucus in Congress,
which, in the words of the hosts, would take care
of the Hindus, protect their interests and, most
urgently, combat Hinduphobia.

Congressman Shri Thanedar expressed his delight
over the state visit of Prime Minister Narendra
Modi to the US and said that he is looking
forward to his visit, as well as, to stronger
United States and India ties. The official

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modis upcoming
state visit later this month, a bipartisan duo of
senior US Senators known to be longtime friends
of India has expressed disappointment that India
took a pass on Russias invasion of Ukraine and
did not take a position behooving a major
power. One of them took issue with internal
political developments in India and said on June
13 that he would like to hear from Modi when he
addressed a joint session of US Congress, a
commitment, a recommitment to democracy.
