BARKING Barking is the administrative centre of
the East London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
The entire borough has a population of 212,900
according to the 2011 Census, out of which
Barking hosts 59,068 residents. It is located 9.3
miles of Charing Cross. Historically, Barking was
an ancient parish in the county of Essex. Over

shifted from fishing and farming to market

The Barking railway station has been serving the

the land of the former Barking Power Station is

and will bring with it the extension of the
London Overground Gospel Oak to Barking Line to
