The 17th century Fort Aguada located

craftsmanship. Housing a statue of Mother Mary on
the altar along with several paintings depicting
St. Francis Xaviers life, the laterite Basilica

The iconic Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate
Conception located in Panjim city was originally
built in 1541. Situated on a hilltop, it has a
prominent brilliantly whitewashed façade in the
Portuguese-Baroque architectural style. Known for
its ornate interiors with intricate gilded
designs on carved woodwork and frescoes depicting
Biblical events, this 16th-century church holds
religious significance. It offers charming
panoramic views of the old port city from its
entrance. The church is reachable through

8SHRI RAMNATH TEMPLE

Brahmins originally from Salcete but relocated
here in the 16th century, ornately carved pillars
