FORT AGUADA
The 17th century Fort Aguada located
strategically on Sinquerim Beach was constructed

covering the southwestern tip of Bardez. Once
used as a reference point for vessels coming from
Europe, there is a lighthouse, military barracks,
and even a freshwater spring within the fortified

CHURCH OF ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI
The Church of St Francis of Assisi, located in
west Panjim is considered the oldest church in
Goa. Built-in 1661 by eight Franciscan friars, it
is a prominent landmark known for its elaborate
Portuguese-style architecture and
craftsmanship. Housing a statue of Mother Mary on
the altar along with several paintings depicting
St. Francis Xaviers life, the laterite Basilica
has some sections dating back to 1521. The church
bell is the 2nd largest in the world.

CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
The iconic Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate
Conception located in Panjim city was originally
built in 1541. Situated on a hilltop, it has a
prominent brilliantly whitewashed façade in the
Portuguese-Baroque architectural style. Known for
its ornate interiors with intricate gilded
designs on carved woodwork and frescoes depicting
Biblical events, this 16th-century church holds
religious significance. It offers charming
panoramic views of the old port city from its
entrance. The church is reachable through

SHRI RAMNATH TEMPLE
The over 450-year-old Hindu temple dedicated to
five deities Shri Ramnath, Laxminarayan,

immense religious importance for Gowda Saraswat
Brahmins originally from Salcete but relocated
here in the 16th century, ornately carved pillars
surround its sanctum. Intricate stonework adorns
