  • Rotary unions or swivel joints are mechanisms
used to transfer fluid under vacuum conditions or
pressure, from a rotating outlet or stationary
inlet. It preserves and isolates the fluid
connection. They are also referred to as rotary
joints, rotary couplings or swivel joints, or
    fluid swivels.
  • This industrial equipment is engineered to endure
a wide range of temperatures, speeds, and
pressures for a variety of environments and
    working conditions.
  • The typical function of a rotary union is to
connect to input, and it is secured onto another
mechanism while allowing a moving connection to
    be preserved in the process.
  • Rotary unions are used in a wide spectrum of
applications whether they are miniature rotary
unions for the semiconductor industry, to they
are large and heavy-duty rotary unions for
    industrial usage.
  • In industries like oil industries, rotary unions
for hydraulic oil are commonly used.

Types of Rotary Unions
  • What are the different categories of rotary
unions? Lets know some of them. Each of them has
different properties and specialties. Lets know
about a few of them in this blog.

1. 1109-010-165 Rotary Union
  • This is a special rotary union that uses patented
pop-off technology. It allows unlimited dry
    running without media pressure.
  • Because of its full-flow design, there are no
obstructions to trap chips or debris. Because of
their bearing support with threaded rotors, you
    get easy installation.
  • In these unions, labyrinth systems and large
vents protect ball bearings. These balanced
mechanical seals are made from silicon carbide.
Therefore, they ensure a long life even under
    difficult operating conditions.

  • Their anodized aluminum housing that resists
    corrosion.

2. 1129-039-301 Rotary Union
  • These patented unions use pop-off technology.
Therefore, they allow unlimited dry running
without media pressure. Their full-flow design
does not have any obstructions to trap chips or
debris. These balanced mechanical seals made from
silicon carbide ensure long life under difficult
operating conditions as well. They are also made
from anodized aluminum housing resists corrosion.

3. 2620-200-252 Rotary Union
  • These unions have two independent passages. They
are useful for applications such as clamping,
    under-clamping, cooling, work-piece sensing, and
so on. They offer long life and reduced torque
    even at maximum pressure.

4. 1129-016-301 Rotary Union
  • These unions have a single passage for coolant or
MQL. They also have patented pop-off technology,
which allows unlimited dry running without media
pressure. Their design is full-flow and there is
no obstruction to trap chips or debris. Balanced
mechanical seals made from silicon carbide for
long life even under difficult operating
    conditions. Anodized aluminum housing resists
    corrosion.

5. 1109-040-188 Rotary Union
  • These unions also have a single passage for
coolant or MQL. They use patented pop-off
technology, which allows unlimited dry running
without any media pressure. They have a full-flow
design that does not have any obstruction to trap
debris or chips. They are bearing-supported with
threaded rotosr, which ensures easy installation.
These are different types of air rotary
unions. While deciding the best type, you need to
analyze and understand the type of application.
Before deciding on a particular type of union,
you have to see the application type.
