Title:

The Role of Anionic Polyelectrolytes in Wastewater Treatment

Description:

Anionic polyelectrolytes are widely used as flocculants, rheology control agents, and adhesives, employed especially in oil field operations as viscosity control agents for enhanced oil recovery and to a lesser degree in engineering fluids used for lubrication, for effluent reclaiming, and for opening oil passage channels in oil‐bearing rock. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

What are Anionic Polyelectrolytes?
Anionic polyelectrolytes, derived from acrylamide
chemistry, are indispensable tools in the
chemical treatment of wastewater and water
purification processes. , In water treatment,
anionic polyelectrolytes are multifunctional
compounds that have found utility in a broad
spectrum of industries.

Role Of Polyelectrolytes
Polyelectrolytes are organic polymer chains
featuring an electrolyte group within each
repeating unit. These treatments classify
polyelectrolytes into anionic, cationic, and
non-ionic species based on the type of
electrolyte group present. When polyelectrolytes
are employed in water treatment, they release
water with chemical, physical, and biological
characteristics that have no adverse impact on
the environment. Particularly in the context of
water reuse, polyelectrolytes have been harnessed
to address water scarcity issues. These organic
polymer chains, each with a recurring electrolyte
group, dissolve in a polar solvent, becoming
charged through the dissociation of small
counterions, leaving behind charged micro ions.
