• Edisons reputation varies widely depending on
  whether you favor a reverential or revisionist
  perspective. He was a man of many contradictions
  an inventor and a thief, the founder of the
  recorded music industry and a supporter of New
  Yorks anti-AC movement.
• But one thing we can learn from Edison is that
  innovation requires teams, direction, and
  experimentation.

  Edisons extensive travel and his relationships
  with foreign-born employees. Also included is a
  comprehensive chronology.

  Aid Squad No. 1, on Lakeview Boulevard and the
  Clara Barton First Aid Squad, on Amboy Avenue.
  Its 174 active members, except for the two
  part-time paid officers, are volunteers.

• A few years ago, residents on Edisons Roxy
  Avenue were mired in a phone-services mess.
  Despite being in the same municipality, they were
  serviced by two different central offices one
  owned by Rahway and the other by Plainfield. As a
  result, residents on Roxy complained to the BPU
  and Bell Atlantic that it was easier to yell
  across the street than dial a ten-digit number.
• After two years of discussion, trustees from the
  three Edison first aid squads Edison First Aid
  Squad No. 2 on New Dover Road Edison First Aid
  Squad No. 1 on Lakeview Boulevard and the Clara
  Barton First Aid Squad on Amboy Avenue decided
  to create a regional emergency medical service.
  The group, Raritan Valley Regional EMS, began
  operation Jan. 1. Its 174 members, aside from two
  part-time paid employees, are Electrician
  volunteers.
• The book includes an extensive chronology of
  events and features essays on a variety of
  topics. For example, "From Phonographs to
  U-Boats Edison and His 'Insomnia Squad' in Peace
  and War, 1911-1919" explores the impact of World
  War I on the inventors experimentation, business
  ventures and family.
